Who we are
Readioma is a language-learning app that helps you read short stories sentence by sentence. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how to exercise your rights. Questions? Contact us at privacy@readioma.com.
What we collect
- Account data: name, email, and profile image from Google when you sign in.
- Profile preferences: username, learning language, interface language, theme, and email preferences.
- Reading activity: which books you read, sentences read, words you mark as known or learning, and progress timestamps.
- Usage data: anonymous analytics about page views and feature usage.
- Billing data: subscription status (handled by our payments provider, Polar).
- Email engagement: when you receive a newsletter, we may record whether it was opened and which links were clicked, to help us improve future emails.
Why we collect it
- To provide the service (sign-in, reading progress, vocabulary tracking).
- To improve features and fix bugs.
- To send transactional emails (sign-in links) and, only if you opt in, an occasional product newsletter.
The legal basis under GDPR is performance of the contract (providing the service you signed up for), legitimate interest (improving the service), and consent (for the newsletter and non-essential analytics).
Who we share it with
We share data only with the processors that run Readioma:
- Neon (database hosting)
- Google (OAuth sign-in)
- Resend (transactional and newsletter email)
- Polar (subscription billing)
- Vercel (hosting and anonymous analytics)
- OpenAI and Groq (AI-generated translations, examples, and covers)
We do not sell your data.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your profile and reading activity within 30 days, except where we must keep records for legal or billing reasons.
Your rights
Under GDPR you can ask us to: access the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent (e.g. unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time), and receive a copy in a portable format. Email privacy@readioma.com to exercise any of these rights. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes
If we change this policy in a material way, we'll let you know by email or in-app notice.
